I can hardly believe it, but culinary school is right around the corner. Yesterday and today have been filled with soem activities around preperation for school, or things I will need to take care of because free time is going away, so to speak. I have been on pins and needles the last week and half waiting to here from Seattle Central on funding for the program. As some may be aware, I am attending the school through the Washington State Employment services worker retraining program. Washington residents who have been lost their job due to lay-offs etc., can receive funding for job retraining in an approved program. Programs range from truck driving, web development, nursing through to culinary education. After a couple months of submitting forms, follow up meetings and phone calls, on Monday I received my notice that tuition would be covered and the steps I needed to go through to close the loop. Then I received notice from the Culinary Academy on my schedule and first day of school notice (feeling giddy like I did before starting college many years back). Yesterday was filled with a visit up to Seattle Central for my student id, check out where I will need to show up next week etc. Today I picked up my uniform - I actually get a chef's jacket with my name on it! It is funny, on reflection how the little (and big things) have brought me to this point, and there are many friends and family (specifically spouse and kids) who have been supportaive on embarking on this new journey. As always, I will keep you posted on what's next - maybe even a picture or two as well of me in the togs.
